Epoxy flake coating is a two‑component decorative flooring system based on epoxy resin. Colored decorative flakes are broadcast evenly onto the wet epoxy topcoat, creating a colorful, slip‑resistant, and seamless decorative floor surface. The flakes help hide application marks and minor substrate imperfections, while adding texture and anti‑slip properties — combining aesthetics with functionality.

Application Method Of Epoxy Flake Floor Coating:
1. Substrate Preparation
-
Grind the concrete surface thoroughly using a floor grinder to remove laitance, oil stains, old coatings, and loose particles.

Use an industrial vacuum to remove all dust and debris.

Repair cracks, holes, and expansion joints with epoxy repair mortar.

Substrate requirements: Strength ≥ C25, moisture content ≤ 8%, flatness ≤ 3mm over a 2m straightedge.
2. Primer Application
-
Accurately weigh Part A and Part B according to the ratio and mix thoroughly with an electric stirrer for 2–3 minutes.

Apply one coat of epoxy primer evenly with a roller or squeegee. Avoid skipping areas.

Primer coverage: approx. 0.15–0.3 kg/m².

Allow to dry for 6–10 hours at room temperature (25°C) before proceeding to the next coat.
3. Mid‑Coat Application (Optional)
-
After the primer has cured, mix the epoxy mid‑coat according to the ratio and add appropriate silica sand (80–120 mesh) to form a mortar consistency.

Apply with a trowel to increase thickness and flatness, while filling minor substrate defects.

Mid‑coat coverage: approx. 0.5–1.5 kg/m² (depending on thickness).

After curing (approx. 12–24 hours), lightly grind the surface to remove trowel marks, then vacuum clean.
4. Topcoat Application & Flake Broadcast

Accurately weigh Part A and Part B of the epoxy flake topcoat, mix thoroughly for 2–3 minutes until uniform.

Apply evenly with a trowel or squeegee at a thickness of approx. 1mm.

Topcoat coverage: approx. 0.8–1.0 kg/m².

Immediately broadcast decorative flakes: While the topcoat is still wet, broadcast flakes evenly by hand or with a flake spreader to ensure complete surface coverage.

Flake usage: approx. 0.3–0.8 kg/m² (depending on coverage requirements).
5. Flake Removal (Optional)
-
After the topcoat has cured to tack‑free (usually 12–24 hours), sweep or vacuum off loose flakes that did not adhere.

Remove carefully to avoid scratching the cured surface.
6. Clear Sealer Application (Optional)
-
To enhance gloss, wear resistance, and flake protection, apply one coat of transparent polyurethane or epoxy clear coat by roller after flake removal.

Sealer coverage: approx. 0.1–0.2 kg/m².

Light foot traffic allowed after 24 hours; full cure achieved in 7 days.
Important Notes

Application temperature: 10–35°C (ideal 15–30°C).

Relative humidity ≤ 85%. Avoid application in rainy weather or under direct sunlight.

Mixed material must be used within 30–45 minutes (depending on temperature).

Wear protective gloves and masks during application; maintain good ventilation.
-
Seal the work area during application and curing to prevent dust contamination.
